Q: What do we need to bring with us on a fishing trip?

A:  Food and beverages, suntan lotion, sunscreen, sunglasses (polarized sunglasses work best!), cameras, and any other personal necessities you might need for the day. We furnish all bait, tackle, and ice for the trip.

Q: Can we take more than six people on our trip?

A:  Unfortunately, no. This is a regulation set by the United States Coast Guard for all charter fishing trips.

Q: Will you guarantee that we will catch fish?

A:  There is no guarantee that you will catch fish on your trip… if there was, it would be called “catching” and not “fishing!” While chances are that you will catch fish, the catch of the day does vary. We do strive hard to make sure that you have a successful trip, however, and will try our best to make sure that you have an enjoyable day out on the water.

Q: What happens to the fish we catch?

A:  All of the fish you catch belong to you, but we must comply with regulations set by the North Carolina Division of Marine Fisheries and the National Marine Fisheries Service regarding restrictions, sizes, and bag limits. Otherwise, everything you catch is yours to keep!

Q: Are fish cleaning services available?

A:  Yes! We have experienced fish cleaners on site to clean and bag your fish. You can also get it vacuum sealed and frozen, and even shipped home for you if you would like.

Q: What is a customary tip for the mate?

A:  Mates depend on tips to augment their income, and as a general rule it is appropriate to tip as you would in a restaurant with the tip being 15% to 20% of the trip price, with a higher or lower tip depending on service.

Q: What will we be fishing for?

A:  We will be fishing for whatever is biting and in season at the time of your trip depending on the trip you have chosen and while taking weather and conditions into consideration. Though we do not operate with a menu where you can pick and choose what to fish for, you can choose your trip type based on what kind of fish you are most interested in fishing for.

Q: Do we need a fishing license?

A:  No. The fishing license for your trip is provided and is included in the charter price.

Q: Can we buy beer, liquor, or wine the morning of our trip?

A:  North Carolina law prohibits the sale of beer and wine before 7:00 am Monday to Saturday and 12:00 pm on Sundays. Additionally, liquor sales begin at 10:00 am Monday to Saturday and liquor is not sold on Sundays. We suggest making these purchases the day before your trip if you choose to do so.
